Set up each operating, payroll, USD and credit card account you use, so every transaction has a home.
Import statements as CSV, OFX, QFX or QBO files downloaded from your bank’s online banking.
Write rules once for the transactions you see every month, like fuel settlements and insurance, and imported lines match themselves.
Close each statement with a reconciliation report that shows what cleared and what is still outstanding.
Keep Canadian and US dollar accounts, invoices and bills side by side, converted at Bank of Canada exchange rates.
When a USD invoice is paid at a different rate than it was billed, the exchange gain or loss is recorded.
TruckerPro does not log in to your bank. You download a statement file from online banking and import it, which works with any Canadian or US bank that offers CSV, OFX, QFX or QBO downloads. Your banking passwords stay with you.
Matching rules handle the repeat transactions. What is left is a short list of items to match by hand, such as a customer payment that covered several invoices or a deposit that needs a closer look.
Carriers hauling into the United States often bill in US dollars and pay many costs in Canadian dollars. TruckerPro records each invoice and bill in its own currency, uses Bank of Canada rates to convert, and records the exchange gain or loss when the money arrives.
That keeps your USD account reconciling in USD and your reports in your home currency, without a side spreadsheet of exchange rates.
